One of the toughest times in our lives came when I suffered a stroke several years ago. Weeks of hospitalization followed by months of outpatient therapy (along with lots of prayer) enabled me to overcome the paralysis and become functional again. The doctors had told me I could remain totally dependent and helpless, so I considered regaining my independence to be a miracle.
